Overview
SEMI Wafer Supplier Identification Codes, which is a two-letter code consisting of uppercase Latin letters, such as "MC". By displaying this specific code on the wafers manufactured by the supplier, it indicates the origin of the wafer and provides traceability, thereby enhancing a company's international competitiveness and credibility. Currently, more than 240 wafer suppliers both domestically and internationally have applied for SEMI wafer supplier identification codes.
Before applying
- Different sizes’ wafers from same foundry need same code.
- Different subsidiaries under the same group need different codes.
- The selected code cannot duplicate an existing code; a summary table of existing codes will be provided for cross-check.
- The review period is 3–6 months from receipt of a correctly signed application form.
- Because the code summary file is updated irregularly, another country or region may submit the same code for final review first. Final-review submissions are made by offline email, so this cannot be known in advance. If the code is registered by another company in this special situation, it is force majeure.
Application process
- Send an application request email
Include the applicant company’s color, high-definition electronic business license and a 100–200 word company introduction. - Complete and return the application form
After preliminary review, the application form and pre-check service order are provided. The company completes them, applies its valid company seal and returns an electronic scan. - Review and submit
After receiving the form, check whether the selected code duplicates an existing code. If it does not duplicate, submit it for final review. If it duplicates, return a new signed application form. - Confirm publication
After final review approval, confirm publication and close the process.
